Packaging Design Meets Modeling

Something i finished for a client recently.
I designed elements for the label in illustrator. Then i took a photo of a painting i did recently and played with the color in photoshop to make the background. Then modeled the jar using form Z. I added a color map for the label and rendered. The second image, i took the actual salsa and poured it on a white surface. Took some nice photos using my cannon. Then i used photoshop to make a relatively seamless pattern and then applied it to the inside of the jar.
So in the end, i used:
oil on canvas
Photography
Photoshop
Illustrator
Form Z
Its like all my passions rolled into one project.

Hmm, made in witch render, default from 3d program? or you used some other render. if you work with 3ds max i sugest vray, with maya mental ray is really good but hard to master. but nice work, keep on.
Thanks, I used FormZ RenderZone to model and render, probably with ambient occlusion, don't remember now. I keep hearing about Maya. I will have to try it.

I really feel that some knowledge of 3d design can help tremendously when pitching work to potential clients.
That is really true.
First, it looks much better this way. Second, the client doesn't have a designer's imagination (typically ) so presenting your design applied to the actual product often helps. And third, it shows attention to detail and willingness to go some extra steps - which is all in your favor.
Anyways, it looks really nice.
