Allot of members are working for real companies so they might just only have time for the contest.
There are allot of people who have registered but left because they needed to have a portfolio and skill to become a Design team member. But they mostly registered because they just saw the prizes and think they could enter them very easily.
However it is hard to attract people to register here and to learn the skills to design things and later when they have learned to design and have good skills to join the design team. But allot don't know that this part exist, and that you could learn how to design things.

Ahh ok, that would explain alot, thats why i read the the F.A.Q b4 joining, was wondering what the catch might be. But acually there really isnt a catch, u just have to qualify if u want to enter. Which is a great idea, b.c then the payong customer gets the best quality designs.
Well i wont be leaving anytime soon! haha

Design contest is really great because you don't to pay to join just be good inof that is all.
I know a dutch version like Design contest but they ask 10 euro fee for there administration. And you need to send a portfolio book to them by mail. But when you send the 10 euro and portfolio it don't mean you become a design team member. Because they still need to see if you are good inof. At that forum it is more dead quiet then here. There are section of there forum that are dated from 2006 while are are allot of contest going on.
Here it is all free to join. Just need to learn the skill and become good to join the team. Here there are people who talk and give great tips. And allot of inspirational stuff.

staff/moderators/administrators are volunteer...the site really is supported by the founder, resurepus, his love of design. Every contest that is held receives a administrative fee........we all love design and act in this. (share, learn, inspie, thats what it amounts too)..
