Thanks for the link! Personally I am not surprised, if you walk through the galleries of Louvre or Tate Britain you will find many very realistic works :)

Can't believe my eyes. Fantastic post.

He must use some kind of image mapping to get the really smooth textures. Maybe he uses high rez photos as a guide.

Incredible.

I'v browsed through his works and they are absolutely stunning. I can't imagine the amount of time he put into those.

I'm not surprised either. Like resurepus said, on my recent stroll through the MFA here in Boston I saw paintings done centuries ago that looked even MORE realistic. Sometimes I think with all this technology we're just making it harder for ourselves.

These are 3D works though. I have seen people be able to do similar things, but the rendering is awesome.

His portfolio is beautiful. But he must be using a 3D program like lightwave or something. I'd build this guy a crown if he did it solely in illustrator and photoshop. Here's a link to another illustrator with crazy talent- khulsey.com
He explains how they are made, all PS and Illy. Unbelievable.

No, I don't think he uses any 3D software. As for the link you've posted, it's awesome and definitely deserves a separate thread. Thanks!
